Eye of the Coach #49: Alizé Cornet is relentless and ultra-motivated

Alizé Cornet went on a sublime run at the Australian Open in January, reaching her first Grand Slam quarter-final at the age of 32. She eliminated Simona Halep, ranked 22nd in the world, in the round of 16 after three tough sets (6-4, 3-6, 6-4) before falling to Danielle Collins, the eventual finalist.

Cornet has not changed throughout her career, displaying the same rage as always – and that’s a strength that can also get her out of trouble, according to Patrick Mouratoglou. In the latest episode of The Eye of the Coach, he explains that the Frenchwoman “has lost many matches” because of her frustration. But Cornet is, according to him, a fierce player, who “sometimes goes beyond her limits”.
